Bill Berry

Bill Berry, born William Thomas Berry on July 31, 1958, is an American musician best known as the drummer for the alternative rock band R.E.M. In addition to drums, Berry also played guitar, bass guitar, and piano, contributing to songwriting and R.E.M. albums. In 1995, he suffered a cerebral aneurysm while performing onstage, leading to his departure from the music industry two years later. Berry transitioned to farming and maintained a low profile, occasionally reuniting with R.E.M. and contributing to other artists' recordings. In 2022, he returned to the music industry. Berry was born in Duluth, Minnesota, and later moved to Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. He is the fifth child of Don and Anna Berry.
