Bill Clinton, born William Jefferson Clinton on August 19, 1946, is an American politician and the 42nd president of the United States, serving from 1993 to 2001. He is a member of the Democratic Party and previously served as the governor of Arkansas from 1979 to 1981 and again from 1983 to 1992. Clinton is known for his centrist 'Third Way' political philosophy. He was born and raised in Arkansas, graduating from Georgetown University and Yale Law School, where he met his future wife, Hillary Rodham. Clinton implemented significant changes in Arkansas as governor, particularly in education, and served as the chairman of the National Governors Association. He was elected president in 1992, defeating George H. W. Bush and Ross Perot.
