    Conor Mullen Oberst is an American singer-songwriter born on February 15, 1980, in Omaha, Nebraska. He is best known for his work in Bright Eyes, but has also played in various other bands including Desaparecidos, the Faint (previously named Norman Bailer), Commander Venus, Park Ave., Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, Monsters of Folk, and Better Oblivion Community Center. Oberst's musical talent and songwriting skills have garnered recognition, with Rolling Stone magazine naming him the Best Songwriter of 2008. Raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Oberst comes from a family with a musical background, with his late brother Matthew Ryan Oberst Jr. being a teacher and part-time musician who supported Conor's music career.
