Daniel Jonathan Stevens (born 10 October 1982) is a British actor. He gained international recognition for his portrayal of Matthew Crawley in the critically acclaimed period drama series Downton Abbey (2010–2012). Stevens has showcased his versatility as an actor through various roles, including David in the thriller film The Guest (2014), Sir Lancelot in Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2014), and The Beast/Prince in Disney's live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast (2017). He has also appeared in Marshall (2017) as Lorin Willis, The Man Who Invented Christmas (2017) as Charles Dickens, and Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020) as Alexander Lemtov. From 2017 to 2019, Stevens starred as David Haller in the FX series Legion. He further showcased his talent in the Netflix horror-thriller Apostle (2018) and currently voices the character Korvo Opposites in the animated series Solar Opposites.
