Darryl Strawberry is an American former professional baseball right fielder, born on March 12, 1962. He played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) and gained a reputation as one of the sport's most feared sluggers. Strawberry was known for his prodigious home runs and intimidating presence in the batter's box. He helped lead the New York Mets to a World Series championship and the New York Yankees to three World Series championships. Strawberry was a popular player, voted to the All-Star Game eight straight times. He was also suspended three times by MLB for substance abuse, which led to discussions about his unfulfilled potential. Currently, Strawberry serves as an analyst for SportsNet New York and has co-authored a memoir titled 'Straw: Finding My Way' with John Strausbaugh.
