David Halberstam
David Halberstam (April 10, 1934 – April 23, 2007) was an American writer, journalist, and historian. He was known for his extensive work on the Vietnam War, politics, history, the Civil Rights Movement, business, media, American culture, the Korean War, and later, sports journalism. Halberstam won a Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting in 1964. Born and raised in New York City, he graduated from Harvard College in 1955. Halberstam had a rebellious streak and gained attention as the managing editor of The Harvard Crimson. Tragically, he died in a car crash in 2007 while conducting research for a book.
