David Harewood OBE (born December 8, 1965) is a British actor known for his roles in Homeland (2011–2012) as CIA Counterterrorism Director David Estes and in Supergirl (2015–2021) as J'onn J'onzz / Martian Manhunter and Hank Henshaw / Cyborg Superman. Born in Birmingham, England, Harewood is the son of Barbadian parents. His father was a lorry driver and his mother a caterer. He attended St Benedict's Junior School and Washwood Heath Academy before studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Harewood's career began in 1990 and he has appeared in various films and TV shows, including The Hawk, Great Moments in Aviation, and Blood Diamond.
