As a young adult, he showcased his talent in films such as Compulsion (1959), Long Day's Journey into Night (1962), and Sons and Lovers (1960), earning critical acclaim and accolades, including two Best Actor Awards at the Cannes Film Festival. Stockwell also appeared in supporting roles in well-known movies like Dune (1984), Blue Velvet (1986), and Beverly Hills Cop II (1987).
