Donald Arthur Mattingly, born on April 20, 1961, is an American professional baseball coach and former first baseman and manager in Major League Baseball (MLB). Known by the nicknames 'the Hit Man' and 'Donnie Baseball', Mattingly played his entire 14-year MLB career with the New York Yankees. After retiring as a player, he went on to manage the Los Angeles Dodgers for five years and the Miami Marlins for seven seasons. Currently, he serves as the bench coach for the Toronto Blue Jays. Mattingly was a six-time All-Star, won nine Gold Glove Awards, three Silver Slugger Awards, the 1984 AL batting title, and was named the 1985 AL Most Valuable Player.
