Eddie Van Halen (January 26, 1955 – October 6, 2020) was an American musician, best known as the guitarist, keyboardist, backing vocalist, and primary songwriter of the rock band Van Halen, which he co-founded with his brother Alex in 1972. Van Halen was renowned for his guitar skills and is widely regarded as one of the greatest guitar players in rock history. He popularized the tapping guitar technique, allowing for rapid arpeggios to be played with two hands on the fretboard. Born in Amsterdam, Van Halen moved to the U.S. in 1962 with his family. He leaves behind a legacy of influential music and his contributions to the rock genre.
