Ernest Ladd (November 28, 1938 – March 10, 2007), known as 'the Big Cat', was an American professional football defensive tackle and professional wrestler. Standing at an impressive 6′9″ and weighing 290 pounds, Ladd was one of the largest players in professional football history. He achieved success in the American Football League (AFL) as a member of the San Diego Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Houston Oilers. Ladd also pursued a career in professional wrestling during the AFL offseason and eventually transitioned to it full-time in 1969. He became known as one of the top villains in the wrestling industry, with his arrogant character taunting opponents and crowds alike.
