Eugene Record Biography
Eugene Booker Record (December 23, 1940 – July 22, 2005) was an American singer, songwriter, arranger, and record producer. He gained fame as the lead vocalist of the Chicago-based vocal group The Chi-Lites from 1959 to 1973 and again from 1980 to 1988. Record wrote and produced many of the group's hits in the 1970s on Brunswick Records and also worked as a songwriter and producer for other acts. Some of his internationally recognized hits include 'Oh Girl,' 'Have You Seen Her,' 'Soulful Strut,' and '(For God's Sake) Give More Power to the People.' Born in Chicago, Illinois, Record's passion for music began through his sister's involvement as a pianist. He started playing the guitar and formed his first group in high school, eventually joining The Chi-Lites. Throughout his career, Eugene Record made significant contributions to the music industry.
