Ewan Gordon McGregor is a Scottish actor, born on March 31, 1971. He gained recognition for his role in the British series Lipstick on Your Collar (1993) while studying drama at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. McGregor's breakthrough came with his portrayal of drug addict Mark Renton in Trainspotting (1996) and his iconic role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel trilogy (1999–2005). He has also been praised for his performances in films such as Moulin Rouge! (2001), Black Hawk Down (2001), Big Fish (2003), Angels and Demons (2009), The Ghost Writer (2010), and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (2011). McGregor is also a director and made his debut with the crime film American Pastoral (2016).
