Frances de la Tour Biography
Frances de la Tour, born Frances J. de Lautour on July 30, 1944, is an English actress known for her role as Miss Ruth Jones in the sitcom Rising Damp from 1974 to 1978. She is a Tony Award winner and three-time Olivier Award winner. De la Tour received critical acclaim for her portrayal of Mrs. Lintott in the play The History Boys, both on stage and in the 2006 film adaptation. She has also appeared in films such as Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) as Madame Olympe Maxime. Notable television roles include Emma Porlock in Cold Lazarus (1996), Margaret Baron in Big School, and Violet Crosby in Vicious.
