Georgia Holt (June 9, 1926 – December 10, 2022) was an American singer-songwriter, actress, and model. She gained recognition as the mother of singer and actress Cher. Born in Kensett, Arkansas in 1926, Holt had a diverse heritage of English, German, Irish, French, Dutch, and Cherokee descent. She began her singing career at a young age, performing on an Oklahoma City radio station at six and singing with Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys by ten. In the 1950s, Holt had minor roles in television and film, including Watch the Birdie (1950) and Grounds for Marriage (1951). Holt's legacy extends beyond her own achievements, as she leaves behind a talented and accomplished daughter, Cher.
