Harve Presnell Biography
Harve Presnell (September 14, 1933 – June 30, 2009) was an American actor and singer. He began his career as a classical baritone, performing with orchestras and opera companies across the United States. In 1960, he transitioned to musical theatre after being cast in the lead role of Meredith Willson's Broadway musical, The Unsinkable Molly Brown. His performance as 'Leadville Johnny' was highly acclaimed and he won a Golden Globe Award for his portrayal in the 1964 film adaptation. Throughout the 1960s, Presnell appeared in several more films, but his film career slowed down in the early 1970s. He then focused on musical theatre, performing on Broadway, the West End, and in touring productions until 1995. In his later years, Presnell experienced a resurgence in his movie career, appearing in films like Fargo (1996).
