He gained recognition for his roles in CBC television series such as Da Vinci's Inquest and Intelligence, both produced by Chris Haddock. Tracey's notable film credits include Prozac Nation, Owning Mahowny, Open Range, and Insomnia. In 1999, he won the Leo Award for Best Performance by a Male in a Feature Length Drama for his role in Rupert's Land. Over the years, Tracey has also appeared in numerous movies-of-the-week, including starring as the title character in Milgaard.
