Iman Vellani (born September 3, 2002) is a Canadian actress and comic book writer. She gained recognition for her role as Kamala Khan in the Disney+ miniseries Ms. Marvel (2022). Vellani was born in Karachi, Pakistan and moved to Canada at a young age. She was raised as a Shia Ismaili Muslim and attended Unionville High School in Markham, Ontario. In 2019, Vellani was chosen as a member of the TIFF Next Wave Committee at the Toronto International Film Festival. Prior to her casting in Ms. Marvel, Vellani had plans to attend the Ontario College of Art & Design University. She was cast as Kamala Khan after submitting a self-tape and successfully auditioning in Los Angeles.
