J. Robert Spencer, born on February 12, 1969, is an American musical theatre and television actor. He gained recognition for his Tony Award-nominated performance in the Broadway musical Next to Normal. After graduating cum laude from Shenandoah University's musical theatre program in 1991, he made his Broadway debut in Side Show (1997). Notable stage appearances include Weird Romance (2004), God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater (2005), and Jersey Boys (2005). Spencer received critical acclaim for his portrayal of 'Nick Massi' in the original Broadway cast of Jersey Boys. He also received a Helen Hayes Award nomination for his lead role in the Arena Stage production of Next to Normal (2008).
