Jack LaLanne (September 26, 1914 – January 23, 2011) was an American fitness and nutrition guru, motivational speaker, and actor. Known as the 'Godfather of Fitness,' LaLanne dedicated his life to promoting health and wellness. He transformed his own lifestyle after being a 'sugarholic' and 'junk food junkie' in his youth. LaLanne hosted The Jack LaLanne Show, the first and longest-running nationally syndicated fitness television program from 1951 to 1985. He authored several books on fitness and became recognized for advocating the importance of exercise and proper nutrition. LaLanne's contributions to physical culture and nutrition led him to be dubbed 'the salvation of America.'
