James Ransone is an American actor and musician known for his roles in various movies and TV shows. He gained recognition for his portrayal of Ziggy Sobotka in the drama series The Wire and Cpl. Josh Ray Person in the war drama miniseries Generation Kill. Ransone also appeared as The Deputy in the supernatural horror films Sinister and Sinister 2, Chester in Tangerine, adult Eddie Kaspbrak in It Chapter Two, and Max in The Black Phone. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Ransone attended the George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology before studying at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. In 2021, he shared his experience of being sexually abused on his Instagram account.
