Janet Vivian Hooks (April 23, 1957 – October 9, 2014) was an American actress and comedian known for her work on the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live from 1986 to 1991. She continued to make cameo appearances on the show until 1994. Hooks also had a regular role on the last two seasons of Designing Women and a recurring role on 3rd Rock from the Sun. She appeared in various film and television roles, including on 30 Rock and The Simpsons. Born and raised in Decatur, Georgia, Hooks attended Canby Lane Elementary School and Towers High School before moving to Fort Myers, Florida, in 1974. She graduated from Cypress Lake High School in 1975 and briefly studied theatre at Edison State College before pursuing acting full-time.
