Jason Peter Watkins (born October 28, 1962) is an English stage, film, and television actor. He is best known for his role as the lead in the drama series The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies, which earned him a BAFTA TV Award for Best Actor. Watkins has also appeared in notable TV shows such as Being Human, Trollied, W1A, and McDonald & Dodds. He has portrayed characters like William Herrick, Gavin Strong, Simon Harwood, and Detective Sergeant Dodds. In addition, he has played the role of British Prime Minister Harold Wilson in Season 3 of The Crown. Born and raised in Albrighton, Shropshire, Watkins credits his passion for entertainment to his lessons in clowning and mime during his youth.
