Jay Duplass is an American filmmaker, actor, and author. He is widely recognized for his collaborative work with his younger brother, Mark Duplass, on films such as The Puffy Chair (2005), Cyrus (2010), and Jeff, Who Lives at Home (2011). Duplass gained further acclaim for his roles in the Amazon Video series Transparent (2014–2019) and as the co-creator of the HBO series Togetherness (2015–16) and Room 104 (2017–2020). Born on March 7, 1973, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Duplass attended Jesuit High School and later earned an MFA in film from the University of Texas at Austin. His diverse ancestry includes French Cajun, Italian, Ashkenazi Jewish, and German roots.
