Her debut album, Sweet Kisses (1999), sold two million copies in the United States and produced the hit single 'I Wanna Love You Forever.' Simpson's second album, Irresistible (2001), showcased a more mature image and included the successful title track. She achieved further success with her third studio album, In This Skin (2003), which sold three million copies in the US. Simpson also gained popularity through her marriage to Nick Lachey and their appearance on the MTV reality show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica (2003–2005).
