Jimmie Allen, born James Edward Allen on June 18, 1985, is an American country music singer and songwriter. He gained recognition after signing with Broken Bow Records imprint Stoney Creek, where he released singles like 'Best Shot' and 'Make Me Want To,' as well as his 2018 album 'Mercury Lane.' In 2021, Allen achieved a significant milestone by winning the Country Music Association Award for New Artist of the Year, becoming the second black artist to receive this honor. Born in Milton, Delaware, Allen later moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2007. Despite facing financial challenges, he persevered and auditioned for American Idol's tenth season. Although he did not advance, he formed connections with fellow contestants such as Colton Dixon and Scotty McCreery, with whom he later toured.
