    Joaquina Kalukango is an American actor and singer. She is best known for her portrayal of Nelly O'Brien in the Broadway musical Paradise Square, which earned her the 2022 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical. Kalukango received a nomination for Best Actress in a Play in 2020 for her role as Kaneisha in Slave Play. Her notable film and television appearances include One Night in Miami and When They See Us. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Kalukango is of Angolan descent, with her parents being political refugees. She graduated from the Juilliard School and is passionate about working on roles that showcase the Black experience.
