John Roger Stephens, professionally known as John Legend, is an American singer and songwriter. Born on December 28, 1978, Legend began his musical career playing piano on Lauryn Hill's 'Everything Is Everything' and making uncredited guest appearances on songs by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys. He signed with Kanye West's GOOD Music and released his debut album 'Get Lifted' in 2004, which reached the top ten on the Billboard 200 and was certified double platinum. Legend has received numerous Grammy nominations and has won awards for his singles 'Ordinary People' and 'So High'. His second studio album 'Once Again' (2006) produced the hit single 'Save Room'.
