José Canseco Capas Jr., born on July 2, 1964, is a Cuban-American former Major League Baseball (MLB) outfielder and designated hitter. He was known as 'Parkway Jose', 'Mr. 40-40', and 'El Cañonero Cubano' (The Cuban Cannon). Canseco played for the Oakland Athletics and established himself as a premier power hitter, winning the Rookie of the Year award in 1986 and the Most Valuable Player award in 1988. He was a six-time All-Star and won two World Series championships with the Athletics in 1989 and the New York Yankees in 2000. Canseco was the first player in MLB history to achieve 40 home runs and 40 stolen bases in a single season, and he also won four Silver Slugger awards.
