Julianne Moore

Julianne Moore, born Julie Anne Smith on December 3, 1960, is an American actress. She has been active in the film industry since the early 1990s, gaining recognition for her portrayals of emotionally troubled women in independent films and blockbuster hits. Moore has received numerous awards including an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and two Emmy Awards. She initially studied theatre at Boston University and began her career with television roles. From 1985 to 1988, she was a regular on the soap opera As the World Turns, receiving a Daytime Emmy for her performance. Moore made her film debut in 1990 and gained critical acclaim for her work in films such as Short Cuts (1993), Vanya on 42nd Street (1994), and Safe (1995). She also starred in popular movies like Nine Months (1995) and The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997).
