Kyle Merritt MacLachlan (born February 22, 1959) is an American actor. He is best known for his collaborations with American filmmaker David Lynch, starring as Dale Cooper on the television series Twin Peaks (1990–1991; 2017), for which he was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Drama. MacLachlan's other notable roles include Paul Atreides in Dune (1984) and Jeffrey Beaumont in Blue Velvet (1986), both directed by Lynch. He has also appeared in films such as The Hidden (1987), The Doors (1991), The Flintstones (1994), Showgirls (1995), and Inside Out (2015).
