Laura Poitras

Laura Poitras (born February 2, 1964) is an American director and producer of documentary films. She is best known for her award-winning documentary Citizenfour, which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2015. Poitras has received recognition for her work, including a nomination for the Academy Award in the same category for her film My Country, My Country in 2007. In addition, she won the 2013 George Polk Award for her national security reporting on the NSA disclosures. Poitras is a MacDowell Colony Fellow and a 2012 MacArthur Fellow. She also founded Field of Vision, a platform for producing and distributing documentary films.
