Lawrence Julius Taylor, commonly known as L.T., is a former American football linebacker who played his entire career for the New York Giants in the NFL. Born on February 4, 1959, Taylor is considered one of the greatest defensive players of all time. He had a successful college career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before being selected by the Giants as the second overall pick in the 1981 NFL Draft. Taylor quickly made an impact, winning the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 1981 and becoming the only rookie to win the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year award. Throughout his career, Taylor was known for his disruptive play and his influence on defensive strategies and offensive formations in the NFL.
