Magnus Carlsen is a Norwegian chess grandmaster and a five-time World Chess Champion. Born on November 30, 1990, Carlsen has earned numerous titles and records throughout his career. He is the reigning four-time World Rapid Chess Champion, the reigning six-time World Blitz Chess Champion, and the reigning Chess World Cup Champion. Carlsen has held the top position in the FIDE world chess rankings since July 1, 2011, and has achieved a peak rating of 2882, the highest in history. He is also known for his unbeaten streak at the elite level in classical chess. Carlsen showcased his exceptional talent at a young age, becoming a grandmaster shortly after turning 13 and winning the Norwegian Chess Championship at 15.
