Malcolm Tierney Biography
Malcolm Tierney (25 February 1938 – 18 February 2014) was an English actor known for his numerous film and television roles. Born in Warrington, Tierney's father worked at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, while his mother worked in the cotton mills. He attended St Mary's Roman Catholic School and studied design at the Manchester School of Art. Tierney's passion for acting led him to become involved in amateur dramatics at the Little Theatre in Bolton, where he received mentorship from Norma Wardle. He later secured a scholarship at the Rose Bruford Training College of Speech and Drama and began his acting career in 1962. Some of his notable roles include Captain Monk Adderley in the original Poldark series, Tommy McArdle in Brookside, and Charlie Gimbert in Lovejoy.
