Mary J. Blige

Mary J. Blige, born on January 11, 1971, is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, and actress. She gained fame as the 'Queen of Hip-Hop Soul' and 'Queen of R&B'. Throughout her career, Blige has won nine Grammy Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, four American Music Awards, twelve NAACP Image Awards, and twelve Billboard Music Awards, including the prestigious Billboard Icon Award. She has also been nominated for three Golden Globe Awards and two Academy Awards. Blige made her acting debut in the film Mudbound (2017), earning her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress and a nomination for Best Original Song. Her musical journey began in 1988 when she signed with Uptown Records. Blige's debut album, What's the 411?, released in 1992, played a significant role in blending R&B and hip hop in mainstream pop culture.
