Max Pirkis (born January 6, 1989) is an English actor. He made his film debut in Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) after being recruited by the film crew at his school, Eton College. His performance in the film earned him critical acclaim, winning the Evening Standard British Film Award for Most Promising Newcomer and the Young Artist Award for Best Young Actor in an International Film. Pirkis later appeared in the BBC/HBO television series Rome as Gaius Octavian from 2005 to 2007. Born in London, Pirkis attended Eton College and later studied Theology at St Catharine's College, Cambridge. In addition to his acting career, he also played football and was the captain of his college team.
