Michael Cumpsty

Michael Cumpsty (born 28 February 1960) is a British actor known for his work in both plays and musicals. He made his Broadway debut in the Tom Stoppard play Artist Descending a Staircase in 1989. Throughout his career, Cumpsty has appeared in notable plays such as David Hare's Racing Demon, Michael Frayn's Copenhagen, and Sophie Treadwell's Machinal. In the realm of musicals, he has been featured in productions including 1776, 42nd Street, and Sunday in the Park with George. Cumpsty received a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his role in End of the Rainbow. In addition to his stage work, he has also appeared in films such as State of Grace, The Ice Storm, Flags of Our Fathers, and The Visitor.
