Naomi Judd (born Diana Ellen Judd; January 11, 1946 – April 30, 2022) was an American country music singer and part of the successful duo known as The Judds, alongside her daughter Wynonna. Formed in 1980, The Judds won five Grammy Awards and nine Country Music Association awards. After Naomi's diagnosis of hepatitis in 1991, The Judds ceased performing, but occasionally reunited for tours. Naomi struggled with mental health issues throughout her life. She died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on April 30, 2022, the day before she and Wynonna were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Born in Ashland, Kentucky, to Pauline Ruth and Charles Glen Judd, Naomi Judd's early life was influenced by her father's gas station business and her mother's work as a riverboat cook.
