Pauline Collins Biography
Pauline Collins, born on September 3, 1940, is a British actress known for her roles in various films and television shows. She gained recognition for her portrayal of Sarah Moffat in the series Upstairs, Downstairs (1971–1973) and its spin-off Thomas & Sarah (1979). Collins achieved critical acclaim for her performance in the play Shirley Valentine, winning both the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress and the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play. She reprised the role in the 1989 film adaptation, earning the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role and an Academy Award nomination. Other notable appearances include Forever Green (1989–1992), The Ambassador (1998–1999), City of Joy (1992), Paradise Road (1997), Albert Nobbs (2011), Quartet (2012), and The Time of Their Lives (2017).
