Phil Austin Biography
Phil Austin (1941-2015) was an American comedian and writer, best known as a member of the Firesign Theatre. He was born in Denver, Colorado, and grew up in Fresno, California. Austin attended Bowdoin College, Fresno State College, and UCLA, but did not graduate from any of them. He was an apprentice for the Center Theatre Group and worked on the staff of KPFK radio in Los Angeles. Alongside David Ossman, Peter Bergman, and Phil Proctor, Austin co-founded The Firesign Theatre. He made notable contributions to the comedy group's radio shows and albums. Phil Austin is remembered as a talented comedian and writer in the entertainment industry.
