Philip Madoc Biography
Philip Madoc (born Philip Arvon Jones; 5 July 1934 – 5 March 2012) was a Welsh actor known for his stage, television, radio, and film roles. Recognized for his rich, sonorous voice, Madoc often portrayed villains and officers. He starred as David Lloyd George in The Life and Times of David Lloyd George (1981) and DCI Noel Bain in A Mind to Kill (1994–2002). Madoc made multiple guest appearances in cult series such as The Avengers (1962–68) and Doctor Who (1968–1979), and played the U-boat captain in the Dad's Army episode 'The Deadly Attachment' (1973). Madoc was also an accomplished linguist, fluent in seven languages including Russian and Swedish.
