Queen Ida, born Ida Lewis Guillory on January 15, 1929, is a Louisiana Creole accordionist and the first female accordion player to lead a zydeco band. Her music is a unique blend of R&B, Caribbean, and Cajun styles, infused with traditional accordion melodies. Born into a musical family in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Queen Ida's first language is French. She moved to Beaumont, Texas, at the age of ten and later settled in San Francisco, California. Despite societal expectations, she learned to play the accordion from her brother and occasionally performed with his band. Alongside raising her three children and working as a bus driver, Queen Ida earned her title after being crowned queen of a local event.
