Randall David Johnson, also known as 'the Big Unit', is an American former professional baseball pitcher. Born on September 10, 1963, Johnson played 22 seasons in Major League Baseball from 1988 to 2009. He primarily played for the Seattle Mariners and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Standing at 6ft 10in, Johnson was the tallest player in MLB history during his time. Known for his overpowering fastball and devastating slider, he was one of the most dominant pitchers of his era. Johnson led his league in strikeouts nine times and in earned run average, winning percentage, and complete games four times each. In 2001, he was named the World Series Most Valuable Player alongside teammate Curt Schilling.
