Ronald Harold Nessen, born on May 25, 1934, is an American government official and former White House Press Secretary. He served as the 15th White House Press Secretary for President Gerald Ford from 1974 to 1977, succeeding Jerald terHorst. Prior to his role in the Ford administration, Nessen worked as a Washington, D.C. correspondent for NBC News, covering various political events. During the Vietnam War, he also served as a war correspondent and was wounded by grenade fragments while on patrol. Nessen's contributions to journalism have been recognized, and he served on the Peabody Awards Board of Jurors from 1996 to 2003, including a term as Chair.
