Rostam Batmanglij, also known as Rostam, is an American record producer, musician, singer, songwriter, and composer. Born on November 28, 1983, he is best known as a founding member of the band Vampire Weekend, which he produced their first three albums. Rostam has been recognized as one of the greatest pop and indie-rock producers of his generation. In addition to his work with Vampire Weekend, he has also collaborated with other artists. Rostam has been nominated for three Grammy Awards and won one for producing Vampire Weekend's album 'Modern Vampires of the City'. He is also a member of the electro-soul group Discovery. Born to Iranian parents, Rostam grew up in Washington, D.C. and comes from a family of notable individuals, including his cookbook author mother Najmieh Batmanglij and independent filmmaker brother Zal Batmanglij.
