Sir Nigel John Dermot 'Sam' Neill (born 14 September 1947) is a New Zealand actor known for his versatile roles in both dramas and blockbusters. Born in Omagh, Northern Ireland, Neill moved to Christchurch in 1954. He gained recognition with his appearance in the 1977 film Sleeping Dogs and went on to star in films like My Brilliant Career (1979), Omen III: The Final Conflict, Possession (both 1981), and The Piano (1993).
