Born on Long Island, New York, Burns is a regular performer of improvisational comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City. She has appeared in comedic films such as Slow Learners (2015), I Love You, Man (2009), Going the Distance (2010), and Life as We Know It (2010). Burns has also made appearances on television shows including Damage Control (2005), Flight of the Conchords (2007), Party Down (2010), and Ben and Kate (2012).
