Frank Shepard Fairey, born on February 15, 1970, is an American contemporary artist, activist, and founder of OBEY Clothing. He gained recognition from the skateboarding scene and rose to prominence after designing the 'Andre the Giant Has a Posse' sticker campaign in 1989 while studying at the Rhode Island School of Design. Fairey is best known for his Barack Obama 'Hope' poster, created for the 2008 U.S. presidential election. His work has been highly influential and is featured in prestigious collections such as The Smithsonian, the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Fairey's iconic style is characterized by bold and idealized images.
