About Exit Through the Gift Shop
Exit Through the Gift Shop is a 2010 British documentary film directed by the renowned street artist Banksy. It revolves around the story of Thierry Guetta, a French immigrant in Los Angeles who extensively filmed various street artists, including Banksy and Shepard Fairey, over the span of several years. However, he failed to utilize the footage until Banksy took charge and transformed it into a documentary. The film, featuring narration by Rhys Ifans, unravels Guetta's transformation into the artist 'Mr. Brainwash', with a mostly masked and altered voice performance by Banksy himself. It premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and received a nomination for Best Documentary Feature at the 83rd Academy Awards.
